As we celebrate the launch of the Elebrium Energy website, it feels only fitting that our very first message be a reaffirmation of what matters most: safety. A few years ago, during a visit to Milan, I stood before the statue of Leonardo da Vinci, the “ultimate engineer”, and felt a profound sense of awe. His legacy, and the timeless monuments that surround him, stand as bold testaments to our instinct to create. From the pyramids to the Great Wall, these marvels began as ideas, transformed through the discipline of applied sciences, the same foundation that drives us today across mega-projects in the energy, materials, and infrastructure sectors.
But this pursuit has carried a steep human cost. Across centuries and continents, lives have been lost or irreparably changed in the act of building. And in our own industry, tragic incidents continue to occur where there should only be progress and pride. It’s time for change, not just in words, but in action. Let our celebration be a commitment to transformation, for safety.
As we move forward, let us also honor the invisible heroes of construction, those who gave so much, yet are seldom remembered with the reverence given to others. Their legacy must be more than forgotten footprints in the dust of construction sites and progress.
